January 21 Water Commission meeting cancelled

Due to a water main break and the resulting 24-hour work of all Water employees to rectify the situation, the January Water Commission meeting is cancelled.

The January meeting of the Common Council, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, will instead be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 7 PM at the Council Chambers at One Court Plaza.

Reforming the Energy Vision

The New York State Department of Public Service  has announced that the Public Service Commmission has instituted the Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) proceeding, stating its intention to align electric utility practices and the Commission's regulation with technological advances that have created alternate ways to meet electricity demand. This modernization initiative will  fundamentally transform the way electricity is distributed and used in New York State. It will create a power grid of the future and enable customers to reduce their energy bills.

The Commission is considering a new business model for energy service providers where distributed energy resources become increasingly available to consumers and become a primary tool in the planning and operation of the electric system.

The proposal can be viewed and further information found by visiting the Commission's website, www.dps.ny.gov.

To ensure full public participation in its regulatory reform efforts, the Department will conduct a series of informational sessions and public-statement hearings to seek public input and comment on its proposals. The dates and locations of the information sessions and public statement hearings are as follows:
